Advisory Board

 Robert Miller, Board Chair holds an MBA from Haas and a BS from University of Oregon where he was recently named Alumni Fellow for Career Achievements. He was the CEO and Director of Envirotest Systems Corporation; CEO, Founder and Director of Systems Control, lnc; and CEO and Director of SD-Scicon, Silicon Valley companies specializing in computer systems and services and environmental services.


 Courtney Buechert, a second-generation advertising San Franciscan, has worked at a number of the city’s most admired agencies – from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners to global powerhouse McCann Erickson. Working closely with companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Virgin America, Visa, Union Bank and adidas, he has had the opportunity to learn from some of the most progressive marketers in the world.

 


 Susan Chamberlin is a retired architect and project manager. She received a B.S. in Architecture from Cornell University, then practiced architecture in Hawaii for one year and in Philadelphia for 19 years, working on projects ranging from single family houses to historic renovation projects. Upon moving to California in 1984 she returned to school and received an MBA from the Haas School of Business.

 


 Jason Goldman is a sixth generation San Franciscan and a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. He is co-founder of G2, a new insurance company providing personal, equine, commercial, risk management, employee benefits and life insurance. Jason holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on non-profit managment and philanthropy, and entrepreneurship.

 


 Matthew Goldman is co-founder of G2, a new insurance company providing personal, equine, commercial, risk management, employee benefits and life insurance. He is a graduate of UC Berkeley, where he received a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on non-profit management and philanthropic theories and practices.

 


 Lynne LaMarca Heinrich joined Marts & Lundy as a senior consultant in 2000 with more than five years of consulting experience in her own practice and with another national consulting firm. She has co-led the firm’s Arts & Culture Practice Group and has served in staff and consultant roles to the nonprofit sector for more than 30 years.

 


 Ted Kuh is currently a Lecturer at the University of California Berkeley, Haas School of Business teaching Finance to MBA students. Ted serves as an Advisor to a number of Haas entities, he is an Advisor in Residence to the Career Planning and Placement Center, he is on the Advisory Board for the Center for Social Sector Leadership, and he advises the school on its annual Asian Business Conference.

 


 Tony Swei has extensive experience in both private sector and non-profit entrepreneurship. He recently co-founded EducationSuperhighway.org, a non-profit dedicated to upgrading America’s K12 public school infrastructure.


 Debra Wetherby founded Wetherby Asset Management in 1990 to serve clients with objectivity, integrity and thoughtfulness. Passionate about both investing and serving clients, she is integrally involved in the firm’s investment process as well as working on investment and planning issues for some of the firm’s more complex clients.


 Linda Wood oversees the Haas Leadership Initiatives, which is the Fund’s effort to help social-sector leaders develop skills and grow their networks so they can be more successful. She also facilitates learning opportunities for the Fund’s program staff, and oversees its grantmaking and grants management.

 


 Kimberly Wright-Violich is a Managing Partner of Tideline, and co-leads the firm’s strategy, operations, and client engagement. Kim is also the Acting President of Echidna Giving, a giving fund founded by a signatory of the Giving Pledge that is working to advance girls’ education in the developing world. 

 

 


Emeritus Board

 Stephen Davenport was the founding board chair of the Center and served as chair from 2005-2009. Stephen received his BA and MBA from UC Berkeley, following which he formed D/A Financial Group of California, a financial services organization providing a broad range of insurance, investment, employee benefit, pension and consulting services. He retired from D/A in 1987.

 


 Phillip Estes Since founding his investment firm, Horizon Holdings, LLC in 1989, Phillip S. Estes (Phil) has been an active investor and acquirer of independent private companies and divisions or subsidiaries of larger corporations. Phil and his business partner have acquired 14 companies in the recreational products, food, beverage, food ingredient and consumer product categories, and Phil works with the key executives at each of its companies to build long-term equity value.

 


 Stephen Etter received his BA and MBA from UC Berkeley, where he is a continuing lecturer in the Haas Finance Group. He teaches Corporate Finance and Financial Analysis, and has won the Earl F. Cheit Award for Excellence in Teaching. Stephen is a partner at Greyrock Capital Group. Greyrock provides mezzanine debt and equity to finance buyouts, recapitalizations and internal growth needs of middle-market companies.
